Since finding my passion in the fitness industry my approach to nutrition has changed significantly. I am often searching for healthy substitutes to create “clean” desserts and my favorite “body builder friendly” sweet treats.
Not only is this totally possible but the results are surprisingly pleasing. The truth is that a few simple ingredient substitutes can result in some amazing cleaner options to curb those sweet cravings.
Think of using coconut milk (or cream) or almond milk instead of milk, coconut oil instead of butter and almond or coconut flour instead of regular APF when baking. You can still create delicious desserts that aren’t loaded with sugar, carbohydrates and unhealthy trans fats.
My featured recipe (from paleogrubs) is an absolute winner! These gooey cinnamon rolls contain no refined sugar, flour or dairy, and while they may not look as pretty as they could, they delivered on taste and got a thumbs up from the twins.
